    Kahaani Aaj Ke Gadgets Ki

Sony’s first horror show “Aahat”, when started in the 90’s had some creative stories not confined within the same old ghost plots. Later the serial (and its copies across channels) lost the innovation, and we didn’t see many films either in the last decade on the horror genre, which had a solid plot and somewhat convincing reasoning as to why things happened that way. They focused more on the screams, background noise, camera angles and hit songs. Vikram Kumar tries to create the atmosphere wherein the audience is almost regularly on ... » read more

This is a new genre unseen in Hindi films before. The setting is horror but it runs like a slick suspense thriller through Manu (Madhavan) the younger son in the household that is afflicted by strange happenings after they have shifted in there.
The story kicks off with lifts not responding to Manu, then mobile cam pics getting skewed in the house, a dog being afraid of getting in and a serial that is uncannily similar to what happens in the house.
The happenings start to get gory with a flashback of the previous owners of the plot where the apartment complex is ... » read more

"13B" is a new form of horror movie where they don't show ugly disfigured faces painted with blood (tomato sauce) or ghosts moving around to kill anyone they wish. Especially the scenes of the elevator not moving up when Madhavan boards it , or the TV serial in a particular home showing a different story than elsewhere, are pretty original in treatment in hindi movies.
Nevertheless, the idea of ghosts coming to kill Sachin with a hammer is poorly scripted and brings fun rather than fear. Madhavan's performance is the USP of this movie. Wonder why Dhritiman Chatterjee, ... » read more

Manohar (Madhavan) with his wife (Neetu Chandra) shifts to a new address with his entire joint family comprising of his brother and his wife, their two kids, mom (Poonam Dhillon) and a college going younger sister. All the female folks in the family are hooked on to watching daily Saas Bahu soaps on TV.

But bizarre things start happening to Manohar after shifting to this new address – 13B like the lift never working whenever he boards it alone, his mobile phone clicking distorted images of his self, his bathroom bulb being constantly lit up despite him putting ... » read more

    Fear has a new style……

In 1992 when I went to watch Ram Gopal Varma’s “RAAT”, I wanted him to make a different style of Horror/Thriller which has some style of International cinema. As before that we had witnessed the style of Ramsay and Bhakaris for couple of decades and it was a time for change. “RAAT” though not a commercial hit but had good sparks of what I was looking for. Years later the end result came in BHOOT, but then again the new style got repeated in various films like Vaastu Shastra, Phook, 1920,Raaz,etc. In all our Horror /Thriller films we had ... » read more

Well, now lets talk abt the movie that i saw last night. It isnt always fair to let all suspense/thrill out of a thriller so i shall only keep it to my opinions rather than letting much of it disclosed for cinematic pleasure of other viewers! The first thing that strikes you is the length and its repetitiveness. The Director could have really done without repeating occurrences of lift malfunction and mobile taking distorted images of Madhavan's self- We are intelligent viewers and can understand without same thing being told ten ... » read more

When a director has a good script he can do two things, either screw it up completely or make beautiful movie out of it. But with 13B I think the third angle comes infront, if ever a movie has been let down by its second line of command then this is the one, by second line of command I mean Editing, Screenplay and Soundtrack. Any movie dealing with this genre of horror/thriller needs to have a soundtrack that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. Shankar Eshaan Loy are a brilliant lot of music directors but then when it comes to thriller they have not been able ... » read more

This movie is meant to be horror but turned out to be a suspense film. This movie is meant to fear the audience but turn out to be as fun for the viewers. Some of the scenes were literally turn out to be a laughing thing for the today’s youngsters who were passing comments in the theaters. Although the message was good that actually ghost exists inside the television, and those who are watching it are the victims of it. Also loved the short message given by the 13B team at the end of the film that if you will escape from television then don’t think that you are spared. ... » read more

New concept shown us with the genre as horror. Now a days we all know that television as we call an idiot box is such a trauma and at the same time addiction for the people. Loved the performance by Maddy. Good to see Poonam Dhillon after such a long time. Would like to see her in more films. Sachinji was absolutely fantastic. I still feel that he is being overrated. I also loved the lead actress, she was cute and good performance. Like to see her again with some better role. Some scenes were very funny and the comments coming from back seat were even more funnier. As ... » read more

Actually the film was good, but the most fearing part was the Amar Upadhyaya comeback. I guess last time I seen him in Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki…as ‘The Mihir Virani’. He also attained much popularity from that show. After that he did appeared in many shows but was almost out from the audience eye. This time he himself admitted that he is now ghost of the television serial. Apart from that I loved the performance by Maddy Without him the movie is a total waste. First half is very boring, second half is quite ok. So please watch it only at home, and if you are very much sure ... » read more
