Prachi, tell us a bit about Life Partner?
I think I will summarize it only in few lines. It′s a romantic comedy film but apart from that it has got lots of other aspects too. It′s got lots of relationships in it. The plot of the film is about three friends but from my point of view I would rather say that it′s more about father-daughter relationship. It′s also about life after and before marriage.
Your debut film was a bit serious film, how was the experience of doing a madcap film?
The experience this time was totally rocking. I remember that in Kasam Se too, I played a role that was more on the serious side. I had to handle kids and a family too in the serial. Life Partner was a good break for me. In this film I am not acting funny but yes the situations are such. Its more light hearted and had too much of fun while shooting for the film. Our director Rumi Jaffrey is a very funny man.
Now Tusshar and Govinda are known for their comic timings, how did you react to them when you were to enact a funny scene with them?
Initially I thought that it was going to be tough doing the film with the kings of comedy especially with Tusshar making his mark after Golmaal series and for Govinda there is nothing more to add to his brilliant sense of comic timing but it was all fun. It was Tusshar who was assigned with all the tough jobs. It was Tusshar′s timing, which was far more important on the contrary my role has a bit of serious tinge to it but it′s more realistic. I had fun watching them act.
Did the unit from Life Partner play any pranks on you?
Actually I remember an incident when we had just finished a sequence in the African Safari and then someone from the unit informed us that our next sequence would be shot in the company of crocodiles. But I did not believe them, as I was very much confident that such a scene was just not required. Again someone informed me that we have a shot with panthers. This time too I did not believe the unit member. But actually there was a shot, which we were supposed to shoot with them. The panther was all caged so it was a relief for us. Tusshar being the hero of the film started taking initiatives to make friends with him. He slowly started cuddling them and singing to them. And then all of a sudden he took my hands and kept it on top of the panther′s head. It was almost a prank both off screen and on screen too.
How difficult was it for you to choose your next film after Rock On?
No, not really. I got this film even when the shooting of Rock On was on. I knew it that it was going to be great because it was something that was totally new and totally different from the role I had done in Rock On, not forgetting the TV shows I had done. This of course has streaks of comedy to it and after doing some serious roles I knew it had to be something else. And I think this is it.
Ok, tell us one reason why people should go and watch this film?
Well it′s been a long time of course, not forgetting the strike, that such a film is going to hit theatres which has elements of both comedy and family entertainment in equal measures. People will also see a message through this film. Well, it happens several times that that few films appeal only to youngsters while there are few films, which appeal only to family audience, but this is one film, which everyone can enjoy. I am sure about myself as I had too much of fun while doing it. It was only after having worked in this film I realized that, Oh my God! This is what happens to people after marriage. I am pretty sure that those who are married will relate to this film a lot.
How would you define your life partner?
Well I would define it as somebody who understands you and you understand him as a person with no egos attached.
Thanks a lot.
