What′s Your Raashee? (more photos, videos, songs)
Harman, what′s Your Raashee?
I am a Scorpion.
Coincidentally, Yogesh your character in the movie What′s your Raashee? is also a Scorpion so did that make it easier for you to play the character then?
Actually I didn′t even know that Yogesh′s raashee was Scorpio till I read the full script. So, I can relate a lot to Yogesh Patel, there are a lot of similarities between him and me.
How was it working with Ashutosh Gowarikar?
Ashu Sir is a genius. He is an industry in himself. This is the first time he is directing a romantic comedy, something completely different from his earlier works. He is so professional that he goes to any extent to get the best out of his team. The film was difficult as it was adapted from a book but he made it look so easy.
Tell us about your character in the film?
I play Yogesh Patel who has just come back to India after completing his studies and the situation arises such that he has to get married in 10 days. So he chooses 12 girls from different raashee′s, who he starts meeting one by one.
Do you believe in superstitions in your daily life?
I would say I don′t believe in it. From the past few years my belief for God has increased. I was superstitious. I still remember using the same pen if my first exam went good or if the exams didn′t go well I would discard my pen. Believing in superstitions until it doesn′t harm the society is good.
Your first two films didn′t do well. Is that a cause of worry?
Yes it is but I don′t think that any film depends only on an actor or an actress. The success of a film depends on so many other factors. I had a lot of expectations from my first film and then my second film Victory also didn′t get the response I was expecting but I was happy because my performance was appreciated by critics. It was very encouraging for me as an actor.
So can you say Whats Your Rashee is like a make or break film for you?
I wouldn′t say it′s a make or break because I am just three films old and my career doesn′t end here. The film is made by one of the best director the industry has got today. The story is very simple and as you know Ashu Sir makes his film in style. I am really looking forward for it.
You are constantly being compared to Hrithik Roshan. Does that hurt you?
It doesn′t hurt me but still it feels a little bad. When you see someone for the first time, you tend to relate him to someone you know. That′s natural. So you say Shahid Kapoor is like Shah Rukh, Abhishek is like his Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh is like Dilip Kumar, and Ajay Devgan is like Sunil Dutt. So after a few films people will say this is Harman, and he has his own identity. But then, it′s unfair to me. At the end of the day, I′m a newcomer and he′s been there for eight years and has done 20 films. He has matured and improved as he′s gotten older.
There has been a constant buzz about you and Priyanka. How do you deal with it?
I have always said that we are the best of friends and I cannot help if the media takes it in the wrong manner. All these rumors are not in my hand or Priyanka′s. My dad always tells me that if you want to make God laugh just tell him your plans. I take every day as it comes.
Currently I am working on Anees Bazme′s It′s My Life. It′s a romantic comedy. It′s a remake of a Telugu hit, Bommarillu. The Tamil version, Santhosh Subramaniam, was also a hit. So we′re hoping we′re third time lucky now.
