      Three Point Something

Aal Izz Well with Sonu Nigam, Swanand Kirkire, Shaan is bit tacky at times. Though, it may well work for some people and catch up as a popular campus anthem. It's quite nicely filmed and may look good on the big screen.

Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh, a great song sung beautifully by Shaan with Shantanu Moitra (backing vocals) is arranged on the semi classical lines and may remind you of Parineeta. The song also has this feeling of longing and nostalgic and must be about some situation, when friends part or are afar. There is distint influence of Bengali folk music in the sweet, soothing melody as well as the instruments. Swanand Kirkire's lyrics also match the mood of the song well. It's for those people. who love melody, which is hard to find in Bollywood these days.

Give Me Some Sunshine by Suraj Jagan, with opening voiceover by Sharman Joshi is the chorus song, for college folk about youngsters wanting to go back in time. It has got good chance to do well in campuses. Suraj Jagan's vocals is bit laidback and sound good enough and the guitar / mouth-organ interplay is made in such a way, that everyone can join in the fun. The students are stressed out and they want to go back to a carefree life. It has a soft rock like feel and as I said, will be popular in canteens, etc.

Jaane Nahin Denge Tujhe with Sonu Nigam in tanhai mode is ok-ok as some parts of it don't quite match up inspite of Sonu's best efforts. It has got a feel like Behti Hawa. The lyrics are raw and intense. It's clearly a song about holding back.

Zoobi Doobi by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal is a simple song with simple tune, simple lyrics and quite easily hummable without any music arrangement. It's quite like what you expect from Shantanu Moitra. Shreya Ghoshal, matches the versatile Sonu Nigam. She works her magic with a sweet rendering of the song. I guess, this could be the sensuous rain song, picturised on Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor that everyone is talking about.

Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh, Zoobi Doobi, Give Me Some Sunshine are definitely the picks of the album. Some of the remaining songs require patient and repeat listening and may not enjoy instant recall. The remixes are included for obvious reason and you may enjoy Zoobi Doobi remix version more. Aal Izz Well is more like techno music video in remix avatar and may play in the pubs and nightclubs for some time.

Shantanu Moitra songs are strong on melody and 3 Idiots' is likewise. Enjoy the little simplicity. 3 Idiots is not going to be known for the music. The music will be seen in the context of the movie. When the movie works, the songs will follow.
