Q. Ok, in the film you say that 'Pappu can't dance', but can you in real life? A. Not really. It's not the best of the things to be spoken in front of the camera, as I am not a great dancer. I have put in lots of effort for the dance sequences of the film. I have gone through lots of rehearsals sessions and ultimately everything came out ok. But all said and done, I am not a natural dancer. Not at all. Q. Is it also true that the Pappu song takes a dig on Salman Khan? A. Oh god! I really don't know from where these rumours came out. The actual fact being that the song is actually making fun of Aamir mamu.
He is at the centre of attention, thanks to his Aamir mamu. Imran Khan can act, can charm and do a lot of great things. Rajan Singh finds out in a chat with Imran, on the eve of his debut, Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na

Ok, now when everyone from the film industry has joined the blogging bandwagon, do you intend to do the same in near future?
Yeah sure! Why not?
What will be the nature of your content?
Actually I dont know at this stage as to what the content would be like. As a person whenever I write something it has a very dry sense of humour. Generally people dont know when I am joking. There are only about four people in the world who get to know that when I am joking. My jokes are done with a very straight faced and deadpan expression so there are chances that whatever I write on my blog will get me into some sort of trouble.
Your girlfriend Avantika is so excited about this debut of film of yours that she has now collected memorabilia from this film of yours, how true is it?
Its all very sweet. She is lot more excited about many things than I am. When the first hoardings of the film went out, her first reaction to me was "look look, its your hoarding". My reaction was “OK, yeah thats all right”. I dont know but she is far more excited about everything than I am. I am fairly calm.
Ok does JTYJN takes off from some point of QSQT or is it something different?
Not really. Abbas Tyrewala had written the script of JTYJN independently without Aamir mamu or me. I am certain that there will surely be one or two parallels that will certainly pop out but overall in terms of tone JTYJN is very different. QSQT was a romantic film but more than that it was a romantic drama. It was very serious film. JTYJN is essentially a lighthearted romantic comedy. This film does not have the serious tone that QSQT had so there are not that many similarities. The genre is entirely different.
Tell us a bit about your role in JTYJN?
I play the role of Jai Singh Rathore in the film. Its really a great and heavy name but its not really like that. He is very calm quite almost like a Gandhian boy next door. He is far removed from his heavy-duty name as possible as it could be. He is a great guy and I really love that character. I love the fact that he is not a typical Hindi movie hero. He is neither a stud nor a Casanova of the college. He does not roam around on a motorcycle. He is a very normal sweet guy and very likable.
Did you relate to the character?
I really did. Personally I discovered that this character is very refreshing and that someone has written a character like this.
I need to ask this, you have to name any actresses from this industry whom you had a crush on during your growing up years?
Many people dont know this that Juhi Chawla and I were married briefly. It all dates back to the year 1988 when I was four year old and Juhi at that time was shooting for QSQT. I used to admire her and thought that she is very pretty. I fell deeply in love with her and proposed her one day on the sets. I even gave her a ring and she agreed to marry me. Two days later I got disillusioned with the marriage and then I demanded the ring back, which I had given to her. She still teases me about this by saying that you had broken my heart when I was a four-year-old kid.
Tell us a bit about Genelias role in the film?
In the film she is very foul mouthed. The overwhelming character she plays in the film is that she utters the cuss word a lot in the film. We had to tone down certain things for safe family viewing. But Abbas, our director of the film used to always say to her to go for it. She actually came up with certain innovative gaalis. But it was only on the sets; off the sets she is such a well-behaved and sweet girl. She was quite embarrassed about the whole abuse part but Abbas would encourage her by saying that “Genelia just cuss over here” and her standard reply would be “Abbas, I cant”.
Now two big films are releasing on the same day - Love Story 2050 and JTYJN. Is there any competition between the two films?
I dont think films compete with each other. Films dont really compete with themselves. If people like your film it will be a success but if a film fails then it means that people did not like that film and not for any other reason, so there really is no competition between films. Even there are five films releasing on the same day the good films will be successful while the bad films will fail. Its as simple as it gets. In terms of two actors competing with each other vis-à-vis Love Story 2050 and JTYJN, all I can say is that you need to have lots of actors in the industry. You just cant have one actor in the industry and all the films are being made with him only. Such things just do not work out, so its not really competition. If you look at our industry there are so many actors who all are big stars but still people say that there are not enough stars because they want to make more films. The more stars are there the better for us. More films will be made in that case.
The whole shooting process for the film was fun filled, do you remember any funny incident, which transpired on the sets?
There is only one incident I can think of right now. Its that one time when I had to wash of Genelias hair. We were shooting at Alibaug and she had to go for a look change. She had to go from curly hair to straight hair and the whole process required hair wash with shampoo and all that stuff. Genelia madam was very particular that her hair is not to be washed with normal water, as it will destroy her hair so it had to be Bisleri water. I had to go out to get a 20-litre jug of Bisleri can for her hair wash. I dont know why it was me who was pouring water on her hair and her hair stylist was taking care of the rest. I call it as a low point in my career when I became a spot boy.
Tell us a bit about the chemistry you shared with Genelia in the film?
It was an excellent chemistry with Genelia and its very lucky that both of us connected so well, because you cannot create chemistry between two people. Its either there or its missing. Fortunately the chemistry part was there with us. It was great fun working with her on this film. She is a very nice girl and talented actresses. She is a very natural actress one who is effortless.
Did Aamir ever interfere when the shooting of the film was on?
Actually Aamir mamu was just not present when the shooting for the film was on. He did not come even once on the sets. At that time he was busy with the post-production of Taare Zameen Par. We just could not interact with him.
Thanks a ton, and all the best.
