According to leading trade analyst, Komal Nahta, Bol Bachchan will be a laugh riot and have a great opening. 3 Bachelors, riding on Sharman Joshi is expected to have a dull initial and can only hope for word of mouth to take it forward. Komal's take on the Box-Office prospects of Bol Bachchan and 3 Bachelors.
BOL BACHCHAN: One more film with Ajay Devgn as hero and Rohit Shetty as the captain of the ship. The duo makes for a deadly combination at the box-office. Their films have generally been well-received by the audience, and two of them have even crossed the Rs. 100-crore mark, the latest measure of the success of a film. Although Singham, one of the two biggest blockbusters of the duo, was an action film, most of their other successful films were comedies, including the other Rs. 100-crore movie, Golmaal 3. Golmaal and Golmaal Returns may not have done as well as the last in the series but they were nevertheless appreciated by the paying public. Even their All The Best, which did not start well at all, picked up phenomenally well to ultimately succeed at the turnstiles.
The Golmaal connection is still very much there in Bol Bachchan as this one is inspired by the old Gol Maal starring Amol Palekar. In that film, Amol played two characters, very different from one another. In this film, Abhishek Bachchan plays two characters, one of them an effeminate one.
Since Bol Bachchan seems to be a laugh riot, and comedies are the flavor of the season, the film should take a very good opening. Also, it has been extremely well-promoted. The Naino ke song has already become popular and the title track is also quite nice, with Amitabh Bachchan making a special appearance in that number.
Asin and Prachi Desai play the female leads in the film which co-stars Neeraj Vora, Krishna Abhishek (the very popular comedian of the small screen) and Archna Pooran Singh.
3 BACHELORS is so poorly promoted that not many are aware that it will be releasing this week. The only silver lining, if it can be said so, is that it stars Sharman Joshi whose recent Ferrari Ki Sawaari did fairly well. But, of course, the success of Ferrari is hardly expected to propel 3 Bachelors to take a good start. In fact, the film will have to cent per cent depend upon word of mouth to make any sort of mark at the ticket windows. Expect a dull initial.
