Weekend Box Office Report: Did 'The Dark Knight Rises' affect 'Cocktail'?
Batman has been a successful series, we know. But did its latest installment The Dark Knight Rises hamper the business of 'Cocktail' and Ajay Devgn-Abhishek Bachchan starrer 'Bol Bachchan'? Trade Expert Komal Nahta gives us an insight.
The Dark Knight Rises may not have netted what The Amazing Spider-Man did at the Box Office; but still, it did very well for itself. After all, it was released in far lesser number of screens as compared to the Spider-Man flick. Therefore, a net all-India weekend of Rs. 17 crore was no mean achievement for the Hollywood film, in all its versions – original English as well as the dubbed Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.
Cocktail managed a handsome Rs. 12 crore during the second weekend, which took its 10-day total to Rs. 65-66 crore. Actually, what the release of Cocktail proved for Bol Bachchan, the release of The Dark Knight Rises proved for Cocktail – a formidable opposition. Bol Bachchan managed Rs. 15-16 crore during its second weekend when it had to contend with the first weekend of Cocktail. And Cocktail netted Rs. 12 crore in its second weekend when it had to face the opposition of The Dark Knight Rises in its first weekend.
It appears that Bol Bachchan will touch the Rs. 100-crore mark as its 17-day total had already reached Rs. 90 crore.
