Q. What is your character in Bachna Ae Haseeno all about? A. I play a character called Raj and the story is about this boy who goes through a journey right from the age of 17 till 30 and the 3 girls that come in his life at different phases and teach Raj about love and life. Any person could relate to the film because almost everyone encounters this phase in their life. It's a very beautiful film and I am really proud to be a part of it.

Ranbir Kapoors second film Bachna Ae Haseeno  is round the corner and Ranbir has to prove that he is not just a one-film-wonder. He chats with Sonil Dedhia.

What is your character in Bachna Ae Haseeno all about?

I play a character called Raj and the story is about this boy who goes through a journey right from the age of 17 till 30 and the 3 girls that come in his life at different phases and teach Raj about love and life. Any person could relate to the film because almost everyone encounters this phase in their life. Its a very beautiful film and I am really proud to be a part of it.

In Saawariya, Mr. Bhansali was there to guide you all through the film so how difficult or easy was it for you to do your second film? Do you see yourself as a more matured actor?

Yes definitely I have matured with times. I wouldnt deny the fact that in Saawariya Sanjay sir had held my hands and guided me thorough out the film. As far as this film goes I have grown up and it was a blessing working with Siddharth (Anand). It was another creative high and I feel great that I have done it all by myself with a lot of support from Siddharth.

Are you still in touch with Sanjay Leela Bhansali?

Yes I am. I dont think that Sawaariya didnt do well because it meant a lot for me. What I am today is because of that film and because of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. My entire credit goes to him.

On a lighter note your grandfather Mr. Raj Kapoor had romanced 3 heroines in Mera Naam Joker and now you are doing it in Bachna Ae Haseeno

Mera Naam Joker was very close to my grandfather and he was really disappointed with the failure of it. According to me it is one his finest films and to compare it with such a great classic is not possible. I would not even put it in the same sentence. Its our own sweet effort from the whole effort.

What was your fathers reaction when he heard that you are dancing on his song?

Initially he was a little afraid because you cannot mess with a classic. What he did in Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi is incomparable. Nobody can even come close to it. He had his own style and charisma. Even today people like to match with his steps. He was, is and will be the most versatile actor. What we have done is own interpretation of the song in a sweet way.

Bipasha Basu is a very senior actress so were they any hesitations from her side to work with you?

She has been a senior person and I was a little nervous and I started shooting for the film even before Saawariya had released but still she had no attitude or no airs. On the contrary she supported me and made me feel very comfortable. She is so hot and beautiful but on top of that she is a very beautiful human being.

There was a 4th heroine (which was to be played by Katrina) involved in the movie but then it was decided to go with only 3 of them any particular reasons?

Yes there were 4 characters and we wanted to show 4 chapters but the length of the film was going way too long and then we all mutually decided to go without it.

It is said that the films is a copy of Tamil film Autograph and Hollywood flick Alfie?

Aditya Chopra had written this film long back almost 8-10 years back and one day he went and told Siddharth that I have this script in my mind and when Siddharth heard it he really like it so all the comparisons are absolutely false.

What is the first thing that you look while signing a movie?

First comes the script, then the role, after that comes the director and in the end comes the production company.

Any special memories with your grandfather?

Yes, I have loads of memories of my grandfather. I remember once I was very small and wanted to wear suits because I always use to see dad wearing it and in those days we didnt get good suits for children so at that time grandfather was in Russia and I called him and told him to get a suit for me and he actually got me 3 bags full of suits.

Future projects?

I have already started shooting for Raj Kumar Santoshis Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani opposite Katrina Kaif and its a light hearted comedy film. After that I have Wake up Sid, which is a Karan Johar production and is being directed by Ayan Mukherjee, Konkana is opposite me. I am also doing Prakash Jhas Rajniti.

Is your character in Rajniti based on former prime minister Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi?

I really wouldnt like to comment on that as it is too early to talk about it.
