Q. What role are you playing Bachna Ae Haseeno? A. I play a character called Mahi who is a 17 year old and she is from Amritsar who always believes in love. The only function of her is to be loved to be in love. I am the first girl in the movie to come in Raj's (played by Ranbir Kapoor) life. She meets Raj and they fall in love and it's the most romantic period of her life. Love and heartbreak are part of everyone's life so I guess everyone will be able to relate to the film.
The talented Minissha Lamba made her debut in 2005. Apart from being the pretty young thing (PYT), her acting has been appreciated as well. She gets into the big league with Yashrajs Bachna Ae Haseeno. Sonil Dedhia met her recently.

Well, it was as simple as me getting a call from the Siddharth who wanted to meet me when I met him and he gave me a script and he told me that your are the perfect girl for my character Mahi and no one will listen to the script again or have a second thought about working with Siddharth and Yash Raj Films.
Ranbir Kapoor is termed as the Gen next in Bollywood. How has your experience been with him?
Both of us are very shy in nature. When we started shooting the film there was very limited interaction. So yes, it did take time for us to open and be friendly but once we did get along, I discovered that Ranbir is a riot. He is so easy to get along with and a gentleman to the core. Working with him was fun, fabulous, and supportive. It makes your working day even more pleasurable when youre working with the people with whom you share the same wave length.
Tell us your experience of working with the other two leading ladies in the film - Deepika and Bipasha. Well, we have very limited time onscreen together but whatever time we have is cherished because we got to be with each other for sometime at least. Its great to share screen space with everyone.
This is your second film with Bipasha Basu how was it working with her?
She is simply superb. You can be yourself with her. And not only in Corporate but also in this movie I have learnt a lot from her. She is very friendly, down to earth and very endearing.
Your costumes are designed by Aki Narula and he has given a different look at that character can you elaborate on it?
Yes, I am wearing these dresses in the film and its called a Patiala. Im dressed up very Indian. Mahi my character will be seen wearing kurtas and patialas, kurtas and capris. She is from Amritsar with a very young look and the period of our romance is the year 1996. So weve used colors that were in fashion then, colors that add the freshness and vibrancies to the emotions that our characters go through.
How has the journey been in the industry? Are you happy with the way your career is shaping up?
Its been magical. I am extremely happy with the way my career is shaping up. I have chosen the films I have believed in and those I always wanted to be a part of. I am proud of all the films Ive done and God has been very kind and gracious. It has been a beautiful journey so far. I came from a non filmi background with no Godfather here in the industry. Yahaan was my debut film and Ive learnt a lot since then. But regardless of your lineage and stature, you have to go through the grind as no one has it easy here. I am now waiting for Bachna Ae Haseeno to release.
What are your future projects?
Right now I am really waiting for the release of Bachna Ae Haseeno and after that I have Kidnap which is directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and has Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan in the lead.
If not actor what would you like to be?
I would like to be a war reporter. I have already portrayed the character in Shaurya. Since childhood I am very much inspired by Christiane Amanpour who is famous for her reports of Persian Gulf War as well as the reports of Bosnian War. I am very much fascinated by these places and the work.
