Q. Tell us a bit about being a part of Dus Ka Dum. A. Well it was exciting to be on Dus Ka Dum, firstly because it’s an exciting and a fun filled show. Also it’s really exciting to be a part of a show which is being hosted by Salman Khan. On the show he is in his elements and the fact that we had a great bonding and chemistry together and the fact that we could translate that chemistry and bonding on to the show speaks a lot. It was for the first time that we three brothers have done something for the first time on television.
More than being an actor, people know Arbaaz Khan more as Salman Khan’s brother. Though never in the league of A-class actor, this handsome actor has time and again captivated people’s attention with his portrayals. His forthcoming film includes Atul Agnihotri’s Hello and he was recently invited for Dus Ka Dum. He reveals more to Rajan Singh.

You also cracked many jokes during the show.
Actually yes there are lots of in-house jokes which Salman bhai, Sohail and I share and there was possibility that the audience might have missed most of the jokes. But the point was that we had a great time and the aim was to have fun on the show. We tried with those things that the audience could relate themselves with and connect with. Salman, the person we know in real life, is getting a chance to be himself on television. We have always seen Salman bhai playing many characters on the silver screen so there is always that little possibility that people might judge him based on those characters of what kind of person he might be. And the show is allowing him to be the person he is in real life. This is one show which brings out his true personality and that is what has worked with the show also.
You must have seen on the show up close and personal as to how popular your brother is.
It is not very uncommon to see such things. Salman has been a teenage heartthrob to a superstar for a very long time. It’s been almost 18 years for him and has given some of the best films of the industry. He has been a very popular actor and people get an opportunity to meet him on his show. The excitement among people to meet him is very obvious on the show. It’s still nice to know that even after 18 years people still want to shake hands with him, hug him or give a peck on his cheeks. It’s nice to know that this is the kind of fan following he has.
Does your family members make fun of you at home?
Well I am quite the pet peeve in the family. You know there are lots of times when my family members have fun at my cost but it’s obviously all in good sense and spirit. There are occasion when I pull their legs too. We have this great rapport among the brothers but at the same time there is also mutual love and respect, which keeps us united and bonded. There are times when we don’t interfere in our lives and there are also times when we collectively come together during times of crisis or happiness and that is what a family or a sibling are all about.
Tell us a bit about Hello.
Well Hello is Atul Agnihotri’s film. I just happened to be a part of this film. Sohail is the principle actor in the film. Salman bhai makes a special appearance in the film and I play a very brief cameo in the film. Atul was very insistent that we all brothers should be part of this film even if it meant getting someone for just a scene or a frame. I was more than willing to be a part of this film. But if at all if we all were to do a film together it would probably be a film where we all have some very important roles, say a film like Amar Akbar Anthony or any other film where the principle characters have got equal importance. It’s not the case with this film though we all are part of this film but nevertheless it’s a great film. The film has been adapted from a book of Chetan Bhagat and has turned out to be a very sensitive and emotional film. The film has got lots of exciting moments.
Therewere also reports in newspapers that Salman is peeved at the film industry because of the fact that no one is contributing for his charity foundation. How true is it?
No, I don’t think so. I think his reaction has been completely misinterpreted. Actually someone must have asked Salman as to has he got any funds from the industry or from any individual person from the film industry? And he must have given a very candid and a honest answer. He must have said not yet. He did not in any way complain, as he does not need to. When he started the foundation it was primarily all about the thing he would do to generate income in whatever capacity. It’s not though as if he is looking for it. He is more than willing if someone finds it necessary to support his foundation considering the fact that he is doing a great job. And I think it’s an appropriate thing to do but not though as if he is looking for it. He does things whether if it’s from his work or from his shows to gather funds to treat people. He has not really complained about anything.
The Khanfamily celebrates Ganpati every year, any special plan for this year?
Well in our house my younger sister Arpita gets the Ganpati. I think this is the third year that we will have it. We have people come and visit our home and see Ganpati at our place and pay their respect. Its stays at our home for the number of days it’s supposed to stay. It’s a great atmosphere during this occasion. Ours is a very cosmo and secular family and we people from all faiths and religion in our family. People are welcome and they have a great time talking and eating. It’s all very good.
Are there any similarities between the three brothers?
We all are very different yet very similar. There are lots of things we relate to of feel for in a particular way and at the same time we are also very diverse in lots of ways in our thinking pattern. That’s a good thing. We don’t want to be clones of each other in terms of thinking capacity. There are many things, which Sohail does which I might find difficult to do and vice versa but yet there are lots of similarities as well. I can’t put my finger that we are like this and he is like that.
The whole world wants to know as to when Salman is getting married; I guess you might give us a proper date.
Yes, I had asked this question to him during the show and its time that he gets married. I think Salman is the eternal bachelor and it entirely up to him to decide that when does he wants to get married. We as family member can only hope for him. We all are married and have got kids. I think Salman bhai still thinks of himself as a kid and presumes there is still time. He is a grown up person and he is well aware of the fact that when does he needs to marry. He will surprise us all one day and the woman in his life. One fine day he will say to her woman that lets get married and will then come home and say to everyone that he is now married.
It has also been observed that in the past few months Salman has changed a lot. He has become more accessible and his famous tantrums too have gone kaput. Don’t you think so?
Youmedia people tend to notice a lot of things. We cants see through such things. Salman bhai has always been a very positive person. I really can’t fathom what changes you saw in him in the past few months. He has always been a great brother, a great son and a professional actor. He has been there on this position for the past 18 years and without his professionalism he would have never been at the stage where he is today. He is always been very serious towards his work. Today he is a public figure so curiosity about his personal life is bound to be there among the masses. But I personally feel so that emphasis should be given more on his professional life. A person has his own personal life and how he leads it should be left best to him. But people are always interested about Salman Khan’s personal life as to who are the people in his life, what he normally does or when does he plans to marry? It’s not necessary that he should marry just for the sake of getting married. He also has to find the right person. It’s he only who will decide on all this.
Finally what’s the status of the film, which you three brothers were to act together?
Yes the film is surely happening but I even I don’t seem to know the reasons thats why is it getting delayed. Actually, I think there are certain prior commitments on the part of David Dhawan and Salman bhai, which needs to be fulfilled, and then only the film will go on floor. Which character would we be playing is all very obvious. I will play the role of Amar, Sohail will play Akbar and Salman bhai will essay the role of Anthony in the film.
