Q. Hi Goldie, everyone is appreciating the promo of the film, which would have made you happy. A. First of all I would like to thank all of them, who have been praising the film, though by a mere look at its promos only. Every film for its director is a dream project only and thats all I would like to say. Every film for every filmmaker is a dream and thats why he makes it. He has his own vision and thats why he makes it. A filmmaker devotes one to two year on his project by putting in all his dream work and then only hopes that it provides all the entertainment to people.
Rajan Singh met Goldie Behl, director of Drona at the Music Launch and found out more about the film

First of all I would like to thank all of them, who have been praising the film, though by a mere look at its promos only. Every film for its director is a dream project only and thats all I would like to say. Every film for every filmmaker is a dream and thats why he makes it. His only effort is that people get all the value of their ticket.
Abhishek Bachchan and Goldie Behl
Ok, do you think Abhishek perfectly fits the role of Drona or did you have any other actor in mind?
Yes he perfectly fits the role. I think along with Abhishek only. Its my good fortune that I share friendship with such a fabulous actor with whom I can call up even at 3 in the morning. If I come across any idea then I can even call him at such hours and discuss the idea with him. And he is always ready to listen to me. You too must be often encountering ideas and discussing them with your friends, in a similar manner I too discuss ideas with Abhishek. Abhishek always wanted this film to be made with or without him, and I very grateful to him for this. But I was very clear about one thing that this film will be made only with him. The character of Drona was conceived with him in mind. Drona is Abhishek and Abhishek is Drona.
Priyanka Chopra plays the role of a female bodyguard in the film, was it a conscious effort from your side to portray female character in your film in a different light?
There is nothing like that. There was no such thing I had thought about that I want to portray female in a particular fashion in this film or even dont want to portray. Its just a character in the film and the plot demanded it. It was a situation where further things could have been carried only by a female character. Abhishek has given lots of inputs for Priyankas character. From the very beginning we desired of that fact that be it technician or be it artist who were roped in for them film, should have belief in the project. With the same belief, Abhishek asked me to get in touch with Priyanka. We both immediately called her up on her phone and she immediately got ready for the narration of the film. And I consider myself pretty lucky that by the time the narration got over, she agreed to be a part of the film.
Mother and son: Jaya Bachhan with AbhisheK in Drona
Tell us a bit more about Drona?
Look, Drona talks about family and its related legacy. The film talks about forefathers and ancestors. In our film industry I dont think so that that there is any family bigger than the Bachchan family. Right form day when I wanted Jaya aunty to play the role of Abhisheks mother in Drona. In fact, the moment I told about the film, she immediately gave her consent for the role. I had only told her that Abhishek and me are making a film and we both want you to be a part of the film. When I further told her that I want her to narrate the role she would be playing in Drona, her only response was that I would be working in my sons film and its his responsibility that he should portray her mother in the best way. Jaya aunty is truly wonderful in the movie.
Your father (Ramesh Behl) has worked a lot with Jaya Bachchan but how was the whole experience of directing her from someone from your family for the first time?
Jaya aunty and my father were almost like brother-sister. They were very close friends. What I have observed from close quarters they were very close to each other. My father despite working with her could never direct her for any of the films. This thought was always there inside me and I finally landed with an opportunity to direct Jaya aunty for a movie. It was almost like fulfilling an old wish of my father. My father had done lots of work in the department of production for her movies but never got an opportunity to direct her. And the experience I encountered while directing her was out of the world. I realise one thing that one needs to speak only a little whenever one is interacting with a seasoned actor. They understand the role and the directors mindset too within minutes that what sort of performance is required. Jaya aunty is truly magical in the movie.
Have you ever thought of making a film, which includes the entire Bachchan clan?
Why not, if I were to come across a good subject then I will surely make a film. Thought come on their own and they are never given post, which things are discussed and then they are carried forward.
Lastly any plan of working with Amitabh Bachchan in future?
To direct Amit uncle would be an amazing feeling in itself. When I feel that I have reached a position and can approach him for a subject, then I will talk to him. I have immense amount of respect and regard for him. He is truly the best actor in the world. For me, he is everything. When I have to take a subject to him, it has to be very special, also something which he himself has waited for long. And that would be something, which people too shall remember forever. I too have been waiting for long for such a subject for Amit uncle.
Thanks a lot.
