You yourself are a father in real life; did it help you in any way to perform the role in a better way?
Yes, surely. Kidnap was to be made soon after Dhoom and everything was almost finalized. During the time when things were being finalized at Yash Raj Films, Aditya Chopra called me one day and informed me that he could not think of any other actor to perform the role of the father. He had seen me in the TV show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai. He also told me that the manner in which I interacted with my daughter was pretty moving.
Through this film you also worked with Imran Khan for the first time, how was the whole experience?
It was a great pleasure working with Imran on this film. It was really great to see Imran working hard on the sets .He has done a fabulous job in the film and has a bright future ahead. I just pray to the almighty and hope that he remains the way he is. He is very humble and has a great future ahead.
Sanjay Dutt in Kidnap
When you were busy shooting Kidnap, did anything strike you?
Yes, the thought did strike me that what if my own daughter got kidnapped. I used to feel that sometimes when I was shooting for the film. In such situation you become helpless and no matter what money you have, you just feel weak. It was a very scary thought.
Post second marriage of yours, what sort of relationship you now share with your daughter Trishala?
I share a great relationship with her. Few weeks back I was busy shooting for my film Blue in the Bahamas. Trishala, who resides in the US, had come there to meet me. I had a gala time in her company and we spent lots of time on the sets, in the hotel and surfing the net. She is studying forensic science in the US and is also working for the FBI.
If Trishala had joined Bollywood, would you have been happier or sad?
No, I would have felt sad if she had opted for Bollywood.
You also have plans to write your autobiography; please enlighten us.
I personally feel that I have led a very interesting life and my wife Manyata is helping me to write this book. Everything right now is in a nascent stage.
There was also this news that you have fallen out with Sunil Shetty on demand of more money for EMI. Is it true?
I will demand money from Sunil as he is like brother to me. There is nothing wrong if you were demand money from your own brother. Such pieces of information really annoy me and they leave a bad taste. We are very close to each other and such news dont really affect me but Sunil does gets troubled as he is very emotional.
Few cities of India experienced series of bomb blasts; do you have any messages for people of the country?
Its really sad that such a thing has happened. I am against violence. India is a very peaceful country and I will request Vidhu Vinod Chopra to show his film Lage Raho Munnabhai to show it once again to the people of this country. I myself learnt a lot form this film. Love and peace is the solution of everything.
You are one actor in the industry who is a total fitness freak. Please give us tips and anything special you did while shooting for this film?
Fitness is very important for an individual and the way to fitness is good nutrition. Everything depends on what you eat. The ratio between your diet and actual training in the gym is 70:30. As far as fitness regime during Kidnap shooting is concerned, I was passing through a very bad phase and had too much of stress. For your fitness you have to be completely stress-free.
You would soon be coming with your own production house, tell us a bit about the plans of your production house?
The production house will be launched next year only and we have plans to make all kinds of films, commercial films as well as films that will make an impact and have a message in them. We have roped in Sanjay Gadhvi to direct one of the films for our banner.
Finally will we ever see you hosting your own show on television?
If I am offered good amount of money then I will surely take it.
Thanks a ton.
