Javed, we dont normally address dogs as dogs. Whats your take on it?
Yes, I agree but every dog has his or her day. I am not very sure if nights are at their disposal but dogs surely have their days.
Ok fine, so talking about Charlie Anna the villain dog of Roadside Romeo, when is his day?
The day of this dog is 24th October and thats also the day when this film will hit theatres. Such an animation film has been attempted for the first time in India. Its a 3D animation film. The film has got a mix of everything and in this joint venture of Yash Raj and Disney Films everything has turned out to be very good. Jugal has done his direction part in an excellent manner. The script has turned out to be excellent. The music has been composed by Salim-Suleiman and is very pleasing to ears and gels with the plot of the film. The film has turned out to be good in all departments. The team effort is clearly visible and it should surely appeal to the audiences.
You have developed an expertise in bringing out voices of other people; what new will we see in this film?
Yes, there is surely a new flavour in this film. I had a long conversation with Jugal Hansraj before we started dubbing for this film. The name of the dog that I have dubbed for in the film is called Charlie Anna. We have given a South Indian flavour to the character. We worked upon the fact that in his conversation how much should English and how much should be the southern flavour.
Judging by the promo its evident that Rajnikant has greatly inspired Charlie Anna?
Yes, you are bang on target. Rajnikant hugely inspires Charlie Anna. He is a big fan of Rajnikant style. In the film you will see him doing various stunts, which Rajnikant is known for in his south films. He actually thinks of himself as Rajnikant only. The character is more on the lines of Rajnikant meets Godfather.
How did you like the characters, which were voiced by Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan?
Its very good. Disney people have done it in the same way as they normally do for their other films. Their involvement is at par with international standards and they have done a fabulous job with the characters. Later on they will also resort to merchandising of Roadside Romeo, which is a normal feature with all the Disney films, which are released abroad. They would be replicating the whole process, which is done abroad. Laila and Romeo have been given the same look that was thought of in the initial stages.
You share an association with Yash Raj Films, how do they go about their project?
Look, whatever Yash Raj does to his film involves complete involvement from their team with full dedication. They never do anything half-heartedly and obviously when Disney too is associated with the film then the quality gets guaranteed completely. Aditya Chopra is a farsighted person and his first animated film is at par with international standards. Adi has done wonders to the banner of Yash Raj Films and it would be a new step in the world of Indian films. I am part of it and am very proud about this. The film has turned out to be very good and I am praying from the core of my heart for the success of this film. When The Lion King was released in the US, it was the highest grossing film of that year, Roadside Romeo might turn out to be the same.
Any memorable dialogue, which Charlie Anna utters in the film.
Yes there are few dialogues, which might just click with the audience. East or west Anna is the best is one, and then there is Anna Meharban to kutta pahalwan. Then there is see you later, alligator. If these lines catch on, it would be interesting.
Lastly, you have dubbed for Charlie Anna, any other thing you found interesting about the character?
The characterization of Charlie Anna has turned out to be quite memorable. The lines and the voices are quite unique and the animation is superbly done. Jugal had planned to give this character a South Indian flavour. I took some references about the character from my own data bank, which is there in my head. We have used few Tamil works for Charlie Annas character. Charlie is a lovable kamina kutta. Its a great film to watch and has got comedy and everything.
Thanks a ton.
