    “A Different Experience”

If a Hindi Movie has a theme related with Blast, Jihad, Terrorism, Cop-Criminal Cat and mouse chase, etc we feel we have seen almost everything related to this topics, Think Twice as this movie will change your perspective. “A Wednesday” has an unusual theme yet something we all can relate to, feel through.

“A Wednesday” reveals an incident happened in Commissioner Prakash Rathod’s [Anupam Kher]career. On a Wednesday he receives a call from an unknown caller [Naseerudin Shah], who has planted bombs in various part of Mumbai city. This creates a panic situation for Police Commissioner and his department. The caller demands release of four hardcore terrorist involved in major crimes operated in India. Police commissioner and his team along with his top officers, Jai [Aamir Bashir] and Arif [Jimmy Shergil] starts solving the case. Do they succeed in getting hold of the caller and his intentions ? Watch the movie and you will get your answers.

Technically film is great, with a good script and screenplay. Movie has everything a thriller needs good pace and good twists. Camera work by Fuwad Khan is good. Especially in the phone sequences, chase scenes, etc. though at some points the movie has minor loopholes, but those can be excluded as movie sticks to its basic theme without any distractions. Background music is perfect and gels with the movie and its theme.

Director “Neeraj Pandey” does a fine job as captain of the ship. His way of treating this different theme is great and needs flattering. Such directors are increasing the level of bollywood movies, which are now related only to masala entertainment.

Anupam Kher as Commissioner of police is good, though at some places was bit low. Still a good performance from a good actor after long time. Naseerudin Shah is brilliant and carries the movie with grace. Watch him explode in last 20 mins in climax. He is fantastic. Jimmy Shergil is confident and has good screen presence in this film. Deepal and Aamir basher are good. Rests all are fine.

So Bol Meri “FILMI KHOPDI” is film mein kitna hain Dum ??

Dum hain, Kaafi dum hain, kutch different yet gripping theme hain. “A Wednesday” needs to be viewed by everyone at least once for its different theme and great performances. Also do watch it before anyone revels a small twist in the climax [Without that the movie will be more gripping]. This year might have been bit bad for the entertainment industry, but we got few of best Indian cinemas this year and “A Wednesday” will be near to those few but great movies in the list.

Ratings: 3.75/5 [.25 Extra for Naseerudin Shah]
