"A Wednesday" tries to show the power of 'stupid common man' against terrorism. The theme was wonderful but initially I thought it is unrealistic. If a person knows how to make a RDX bomb and set it off remotely through a phone call can not be called a 'common man'. But if you google on how to make a bomb you will get hundreds of sites with detailed information. You can even learn how to make a time bomb or a grenade or how to set off a bomb remotely from internet !
Naseeruddin Shah was as usual excellent. Anupam Kher also played his role wonderfully. The dialogue at the climax between Naseer and Anupam was very original and to the point. The weakest part of this movie was its ability to create suspense. The only suspense was the identity of Naseer. Comparing this movie with 'Amir', another recent movie on the same theme 'power of common man to defy terrorism', I would rate Amir higher than 'A Wednesday'. Amir was able to create lot of suspense and is perhaps the best original script in Hindi Movies in years.
It is a welcome change to watch movies like 'A Wednesday' or 'Amir'. Both are without excessive drama, based on recent events, try to show things from the eyes of laymen and dont try glorify anybody. Kudos to the directors and the producers.
