"Aabhran" means a colourful cloth that is worn around the waist as an ornament .
"Potraj”, is one of the major downtrodden communities of Maharashtra. They beg (madaan) in the name of Goddess to live their livelihood and in return bless people for their offerings so that the Goddess takes away the pain and fury from there lives. Potraj beg from door to door with colourful clothes tied up around their waist, heavy ornaments in the feet and accompanied by a hand-drum (halgi) which makes a rhythmic - trancelike sound. However, behind this colourful attire lies the deep dark side of their survival.
This story is about Lakha- the Potraj, his wife Lakshmi and his son Arjun. It holds the emotional, loving, as well as a thoughtful struggle between father and son. Lakha lives with a belief that his son will carry on his tradition and culture which has been passed on through the generations and the burden of which he has been happily carrying on his shoulders. On the other hand, Lakshmi is fighting against the injustice meted out to them by the upper caste and struggles to manage her family. She also blames her husband for their situation but is also aware of the helplessness of her husband. Arjun on the other hand is struggling hard to find answers to his question “Why is this happening to me?" Unable to find answers, he runs away after the ceremony of becoming Potraj.

    Will Arjun Return?

What Will Happen To Lakha And Lakshmi After That?
