    Raju(Govinda) is orphaned at very young age & lives a very poor life style with his sister Laxmi who is unmarried. One day Raju meets an attractive looking girl named Parul(Sonali Bendre) in college. Bobby (Mohnish Behl) also falls in love with Parul. Raju too falls in love with Parul. But PArul's uncle Jagpal (Avtaar Gill) has already arranged her marriage with police inspector Surya Dev Singh (Shakti Kapoor). PArul refuses to marry Suryadev so he arrest Raju on a charge of murder & holds in a cell & beats him up mercilessly. LAxmi takes a gun from a police man & helps Raju to escape from the cell & prevent Parul's forcible marriage with Suryadev. They manage to arrive in time only to find out that Parul has consumed poison & killed herself. Raju gets outrageous but police capture him & watches helplessly on Parul is cremented. Suryadev sexually anaults LAxmi & leaves her in a mental shock. Raju takes Laxmi with him to small village where he hides her from other people as she is visibly pregnant. He also changes his name to Birju. In the village Birju meets Bijli(Shilpa Shetty) who wishes to marry him. But Bijli is a police disguised who has been assigned a job to arrest him at any cort. She does confront him & he confenses to killing Parul's uncle. Barkha calls reinforcement to escort Raju to jail. The inspector in charge of the reinforcement is none other than Suryadev who is determined to finish Raju once & for all.
