7 year old Akshata is asked to write a short essay on the importance of grandparents. She is worried as she does not have a grandparent neither from her father nor mother’s side. Both her parents, Ameya and Kshama, doctors, were orphaned very early. A chance call connects her to Sumitrabai Purandhare, an elderly lady battling old age and loneliness in Neral. Their frequent conversations leads to the start of a beautiful, sweet relationship between the “Aaji” (Grandmother, in Marathi) and her “Naat”, (Grand daughter, in Marathi). Sumitrabai welcomes the new change Akshata has brought in her life but it also brings back some painful memories that she had long since buried deep inside her heart.
