Aamar Bodyguard is a film of 2009 or 2010 which has finally released this week. The film stars Pratik and Riddhima in the lead roles. While Pratik has already acted in a film in the meantime, Riddhima has acted in quite a few film by now and even Haranath Chakrabarty has directed a few films meanwhile. Hence it is unfortunate that this film took such a long time to release. The looks of Pratik and specially that of Riddhima has changed since she looks much younger and thinner than she is now.
The film is not really about a bodyguard though the title may suggest otherwise. The film is about Anol, a ‘do gooder’ who spends his time doing good deeds and helping out people. One day he comes across Ankhi, a spoilt brat who thinks of money . From that moment they are inseparable and they always go together to all places. It seems as if she loves him. However though also Anol falls in love with her and confesses his love for her one day , it seems as if she is just playing a game with him and she tells him that he is just like a bodyguard to her whom she takes everywhere with her just for her own safety. However does Anol make her mend her ways? Before all that, her fiance, Jayanta tries to kill Anol by employing goons and Anol is arrested on false charges, but the charges are reversed when it is revealed that Jayanta is the culprit and hence is arrested and Ankhi goes back to Anol.
Since the film is releasing after a while, the film will seem to be dated specially seeing the appearance of the lead pair. Why even Kanchan looks like a stick in this film. There are quite a few unnecessary songs in the film which just wasn’t required. The biggest problem is Pratik. Most of the time he is expressionless, in fact hardly has any emotions on his face. We have seen him in Om Shanti after that as well and he wasn’t too great. If he doesn’t improve very soon, then his chances are quite dim in the industry as he hardly has any other skills or strengths. Tapas Pal as the cop is good . The choreography is quite poor.
If the film had a different male lead, maybe things would have been better because even when things come to such a stage where it seems to be a revenge drama, there is no expression on Pratik’s face which would signify the situations prevailing in the film.
