Aamras is not a big budget movie and most likely, you wouldn't have heard much about it. So, when you walk into the theater without much expectation about the movie, there is a good chance you will like the movie. The movie is made with lot of heart and it shows. Though the protagonists in the movie are girls...the story is universal and it could apply to boys as well in the same age group, on the threshold of leaving school. And, therein lies the secret sauce in the movie.
Somewhere it appeals to everyone, whether you are living that life as a school student or have ... » read more

What was worth watching was the performance of the four girls!

Vega (Jiya), Natasha (Pari), Maanvi (Rakhi) and Aanchal (Sanya).

I guess all the four have done their debut by this film. The first 20mins you will not be able to understand what characters they are actually playing. But after that, you will not be able to figure out that they are actually acting in some film. Their acting, their gestures, dialogue delivery, emotions, attitude, all the ingredients which actually an experience actress would have, that all was having inside them. They actually ... » read more

    ‘’Kuch Khatthi Kuch Meethi’’

There’s something about Inheritance of talent. In the 70s, Basu Chatterjee was one film-maker known for his middle-of-the-road films with a feel good backdrop and real characters. So Today when His Daughter makes her directorial debut promising to tell us a sweet story about the bonding of four young girls, Its not very wrong of us to expect another bittersweet tale. So does Rupali guha meet the expectations ? Let’s see.

Aamras is a story of 4 girls – Jiya [Vega Tamotia], Pari [Natasha Bharadwaj], Sanya [Aanchal Sabarwal] ... » read more

    Dil Chahti Hai

A girlie group of close friends, who are just about to be eligible electoral voting, and going through routine hassles of inter-personal relationships. Predictable but interesting premise that is…

Pari (Ntasha), Rakhi (Maanvi), Sanya (Anchal) and Jiya (Vega) are final year students in their school and even with social and economic barriers between their families; they are tightly bound with the thread of their friendship. Pari is from an ultra rich builder family, Rakhi’s family is in restaurant business, Sanya is from well to do Parsi ... » read more

Sweet aamras, could have been more sweeter.

The expectation was a bit high, mainly because of the Basu Chatterjee connection. But after the first half only it was clear that this movie is nice, but in a different way. The pace was excellent. Screenplay was nice except for few moments in the second half. It was nice to see four energetic girls all the time on screen. Direction overall was great, also explains the on screen energy and spontaneous acting from the girls and other supporting casts. The smallest details also were taken care in the screenplay.
    The ... » read more

Looks like a complete compromise from the writing point of view.

Though the film was a low budget, but the only thing can save a low budget film is nothing but a wise story and good screenplay. Which here lacked, and the film didn’t appealed to the masses. I guess there were a lot of compromises done in making this film.

The only good was the performances and the music. The pleasant music and the video related to that will surely entertain you. Rest I think it was not even close to the Aamras.

Initially the film will surely amuse you, but then ... » read more

Plot was nice but treated very badly!

Four school friends – best of each other – one misunderstanding – differences – one problem arrives – emotional scene – and reunite.

    What was good?

    - Plot
    - Performances
    - Message at the end
    - Music
    - Direction
    - Cinematography

    What was bad?

    - Screenplay (Major flaw)
    - Editing (Typical Daily Soaps Editing)
    - And lastly ofcourse the empty theatre

I would like share one thing after watching this film. When I heard the film is about sum of four school friends, ... » read more
