    Abhishek Bachchan was born in February 5, 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is the son of Indian actors Amitabh Bachchan – Bollywood ka Baadshah formerly known as Big B in the Industry and actress turned politician Mrs. Jaya Bachchan which before marriage was known as Jaya Bhaduri. His wife is former Miss World turned actress Aishwarya Rai. His elder sister is Shweta Bachchan-Nanda (born in 1974). His grandfather, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a well-known poet of Urdu and Hindi literature. Bachchan's paternal grandmother Teji Bachchan passed away on December 21, 2007.
    The original last name of Abhishek's parental family is Srivastav; Bachchan was named thereafter his grandfather. He is of Punjabi Sikh heritage from his grandmother Teji's side, while also of Bengali Kulin Brahmin descent from his mother Jaya Bhaduri's side.
    Abhishek was dyslexic as a child which he overcame. He attended Jamnabai Narsee School and Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, and Aiglon College in Switzerland. He then went to the U.S. to complete his education at Boston University but then left the course mid-way to pursue his acting career when his father's company ABCL was facing trouble.

    Abhishek Bachchan made his debut with J.P. Dutta's moderately successful Refugee (2000) which he was nominated as the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award with opposite Kareena Kapoor which was also came a debut film for her. In a span of four years, Bachchan went on to do many more movies, without any major box-office successes, for example Kuch Naa Kaho (2003) with Aishwarya Rai, whom he later married on April 20, 2007. The Other films include in the flop category in order wise was such as Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (2000) in which he also did as a playback singing for the first time, Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya (2000), Bas Itna sa Khwab hain (2001), Haan Maine bhi Pyaar kiya (2002), Shararat (2002), Om Jai Jagdish (2002) which was first time directed by the well known actor Mr. Anupan Kher, Desh (2002), Main Prem Ki Dewwani hoon (2003) which he was nominated as Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, Mumbai se Aya se mera Dost opposite to Lara Dutta (2003), Zameen (2003). LOC Kargil (2003) which was again directed by the none other then Mr. J.P.Dutta who had originally launched him. After then Run (2004) opposite Bhoomika Chawla for the first time, but didn’t turned out well.
    Until the year 2004, that the actor delivered a hit and a critically acclaimed performance, in the films Dhoom and Yuva. In Yuva he achieved and won his first, Filmfare Award as the Best Supporting Actor. Since then, Abhishek has starred in films that have been mostly commercially and critically successful. Films like (in order wise) Hum Tum (2004) was a Big Hit but he came only for a Guest Apperance yet very important role in the film. Next is Phir Milenge (2004), the topics was on AIDS but didn’t turned out to be well. Rakht: What if you can see the future (2004) came as the first time as a very special appearance in an item song. Then Naach (2004) opposite Antra mali didn’t turn out to be well.
    In 2005, he shot to fame with four consecutive hits: Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar, Dus and Bluffmaster. He won his second Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Sarkar. Abhishek also received his first Filmfare nomination in the Best Actor category. In Bluffmaster he did second time as a Playback Singing. Other then these, Antar Mahal was also released in 2005 but didn’t touch the Box-Office. Rest in 2005 he made as a Special Appearances in movies like Salaam Namaste, Home Delivery: Aapko... Ghar Tak, Ek Ajnabee Starring his Dad Mr. Big B, Neal n' Nikki.
    In 2006 the film name Alag, he came second time as a special appearance in some song. Besides that in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) he again won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. It was one of the highest grossing films of the year. His next release Dhoom 2, a sequel to his first hit Dhoom did very well at the box office. After then in Lage Raho Munna bhai (2006) as a special appearance. Then the most awaited was Umraojaan (2006) pairing with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan but didn’t played in magic.
    In 2007 he was back as gem in GURU (2007). It was a huge success and also appreciated for Mr. AB’s work. The film was actually emerged as his first solo hit. He was also nominated for the Best Filmfare Actor Award for this film. Then came in Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) (special appearance), Jhoom barabar Jhoom (2007) turned out to be an entertaining flop movie in India but did well at overseas, Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag (special appearance), Laaga Chunri Mein Daag (extended cameo), Om Shanti OM (sp. appearance).
    In 2008 he was back in and as Sarkar Raj with his family Dad Mr. Big B and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which was overall a hit. Then in Mission Istanbul as a sp. appearance.
    His coming up projects in 2008 is Drona, releasing on October 2, 2008; Dostana, releasing on November 14, 2008; and Dilli 6, releasing on January 23, 2009

    Abhishek Bachchan was earlier engaged to Karisma Kapoor. The couple announced their engagement on Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration in October 2002. The engagement was called off in January 2003.
    His engagement to Aishwarya Rai was announced on January 14, 2007. The announcement was later confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan married Rai on April 20, 2007 according to traditional Hindu rites of the South Indian Bunt community, to which his wife belongs.

    In Summer 2008, Abhishek Bachchan joined his father Amitabh Bachchan, wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Preity Zinta, and Ritesh Deshmukh on the Unforgettable World Tour. The 1st leg of the tour covered the USA, Canada, London, and Trinidad. The second leg of the tour will most likely happen by the end of this year 2008. Amitabh's company AB Corp Ltd. along with Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd are behind the concert.
