Anil Biswas was born on July 7, 1914 in Barisal, East Bengal. In childhood, he displayed a keen interest in Tabla and Singing. After finishing his college, He moved to kolkata where he was appointed as the music composer for Indian theatre association. In 1934, He went to Bombay to try his luck in Hindi films.
Anil Biswas’s first stint in Hindi films was when he was associated in the music composition for films like Baal Hatya (1935) and Bharat Ki Beti (1935). His first film as an individual composer was Dharam Ki Devi (1935). In 1936, Anil Biswas joined Sagar Movietone where he assisted composer Ashok Ghosh in films like Manmohan (1936) and Deccan Queen (1936).
