Anil Kapoor was born on December 24, 1958 in Chembur, Mumbai. His father Surinder Kapoor was secretary to film actors Geeta Bali and Shammi Kapoor. Anil Kapoor grew up in a filmy environment and was very close to Raj Kapoor’s family. Anil did his schooling from OLPS School. While doing his junior college, Anil Kapoor worked as an assistant director for Ponga Pandit (1975). He joined St. Xaviers College, but was suspended in 2nd year. He tried to join Pune Film Institute, but failed in the written examination. He then joined Roshan Taneja’s acting school. Anil Kapoor’s first film was Humhare Tumhare (1979), where he had a minor role. He also went onto play small parts in Hum Paanch (1980) and Ramesh Sippy’s Shakti (1982).
