Abubha Gupta was born in Dinajpur, West Bengal on the year 1930. She was the first child of her parents. Her father was Mridula. She was fond of dance, song and football since her childhood. Her music talent brought her to the limelight of Bengali Cinema. Her debut film was as a playback singer in the film like “Sandhi”, “Karn Arjun”, “Samrat Ashoke” etc. At the same time she also acted in drama like Tagore’s “Bisarjan”, “Siraj-ud-doula”.
She studied first in Parry Charan Girls School, and then Banipith and later Shantiniketan. Her debut film was “Samarpan” in 1948.
