Aruna Irani was born in 1950 in Bombay. She is of mixed Zorastrian and Hindu background. She was trained in dancing right from her childhood. When she was just 11, She made her first screen appreance in Ganga Jamuna (1961). She went on to do many more films as a child artist like Anpadh (1962), Parsmani (1963) and Jahan Ara (1964)
Aruna Irani’s first film as a female lead was Farz (1967), where she starred opposite Jeetendra. Farz was a runaway hit, and made Jeetendra an over-night star. Meanwhile, Aruna Irani got stuck in supporting roles. She did many more films like Waris (1969), Humjoli (1970), Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke (1969) and Naya Zamana (1971).
