Husnlal and Bhagatram were younger brothers of Pandit Amarnath, a prominent composer of the 40's. Husnlal was a violinist, and also a classical singer. Bhagatram was an Harmonium player. Initially they worked as assistants for Pandit Amarnath and gained necessary technical knowhow for music direction in movies.
Husnalal & Bhagatram were the first to set up a tradition of a 'Pair' of Music Directors. They started their career in 1944 with 'Chand'. They reached thier heights with 'Ek Dil Ke Tukade Hazar Hue' (Rafi) - 'Pyar Ki Jeet' (1948). It is still considered as on of the best songs of Rafi Sahab.
