John Abraham biography

John Abraham was born on December 17th 1972. His father is a Malayali Saint Thomas Christian architect, from Alwaye, Kerala in India while his mother Phiroza Irani is part of the Bombay’s Parso Community. His parsi name is “farhan” to which his father being a catholic added “Abraham” as a respect for bible and named him John. John has a younger brother, Alan. Abraham did his schooling from the Bombay Scottish School and attended Jai Hind College, where he was the captain of the football team. He was good sportsman, captaining the college football team. He did his MBA from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. John Abraham was originally supposed to play the role of Arjun Rampal in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., but he could not do so since the dates of Ravi Chopra's 'Babul' had gone haywire due to Bachchan's health problem. So the role was later played by Arjun Rampal. By Movie Lover

John Abraham was not the first choice for UTV's Goal. Saif Ali Khan had initially been signed to play a footballer. However, as he could not play such a strenuous role, UTV had no choice but to replace him. Says an insider, "Saif did not shoot for the film, but he practised playing football for at least ten days.
