Mala Sinha (real name Alda Sinha) was born on November 11, 1936 in Culcutta. She was noticed by Bengali film-maker Ardhendu Bose in a school play, who wanted her to act in his film Roshanara (1952). Roshanara turned out to be Mala Sinha’s debut on screen. After Roshanara, Mala did some more Bengali films.
Mala Sinha got her break in hindi films when she came to Bombay and met singer Geetu Dutt. Geeta Dutt was very impressed with her, and introduced her to Kidar Sharma who cast her in Rangeen Raatein (1955). Mala Sinha also did a few other forgettable hindi films like Ek Shola (1956), Naya Zamana (1957) and Fashion (1957).
