Mita Chattopadhay was born in Kolkata on August 10th, 1943. Her father’s name is Phanibhushan Chattopadhay. She passed her Higher Secondary Examination from Deshbandhu School. Ad then she graduated from Ashutosh College. Apart from her academic studies she also learn dancing from Gopal Pillai, Athinlal and Manishankar. She took singing lessons from Rajen Basu, Manmatha Banerjee and Bhaktimoy Dasgupta.
She made her debut in the film “Abhijatri” in the year 1947 directed by Hemen Gupta. She was only 4 then. Her performance was so good in that film that she did not have to look back again.
