Ravi Baldev Raj Chopra was born to B. R. Chopra and Prakash Chopra, on 27th September, 1946.
His parents belonged to the group of Indians who crossed over to India as refugees. His father, after a stint as a journalist for a while, started his struggle as a filmmaker and within a matter of years made B. R. Films, one of the most prestigious banners in the film industry.
Ravi completed his education in Mumbai and thereafter joined his father as an assistant. he learnt the ropes on the job. He later had the opportunity to work with both his father and his uncle, Yash Chopra.
