Rituparna Sengupta was born in Kolkata on November 7th. Her father’s name is Prabir Sengupta and her mother is Nandita Sengupta.

She passed Secondary Examination from Carmel Convent in the year 1990. There after she passed Higher Secondary Examination from Gokhle College, Kolkata. She graduated from the same institution with honors in History the year 1995. She is dancing from her teens. Her orissi dance teacher was Sutapa Talukdar. Her classical and modern dance lessons gave her immense confidence in her film career. It also helped her acting in different song-dance sequences of different films. Her first acting assignment was in a television serial “Sada Paira”.
