Rupa Gangopadhay was born in Kolkata on November 25th, 1965. Her real name is Dipannita. Her father’s name is Samarendralal Gangopadhay. She passed her Higher Secondary Examination from Path Bhaban, Kolkata. She was graduated in the year 1986.
She wanted to be a architect, but accidentally she became an actress. She made her debut in the film “Pratik” in the year 1988. Her major films till date were, “Padma Nadir Majhi” directed by Goutam Ghosh in the year 1993, “Yugant” directed by Aparna Sen in the year 1997. She became a national name after acting in TV serial “Mahabharat” in the role of “Draupadi”. Though she acted in Hindi and Bengali Films but she ultimately switched over primarily to television.
