Shashi Kapoor, in the history of his film-career, had never been so serious as he was in "The New Delhi Times". The film was directed by Ramesh Shama. Here, Shashi Kapoor is an honest journalist who has to face different odds while bringing the merciless evils of the high profiles to light. A tragic event of burning a man alive makes the honest journalist rebel. Shashii here gives his best, mainly while exposing how tormented he is in this system. Sharmla Tagore as his wife is equally brilliant.By Dipen Guha
Shashi Kapoor produced "Vijeta"which was directed by Govind Nihalni, whose name is prononced next to Syam Benegal. The plot of the story pivots round the mental anguish of parents acted by Shashi and Rekha over their son
"Vijeta"is a very serious film in which it is shown how parental straining nerves act upon the issue. Shashi introduced his own son. Both Shashi and Rekha were superb. This film too is an evident of Shashi's serious approach.
