Suparna Mukhopadhay was born in Patna on 21st December 1909. Her real name was Annapurna. Her uncle called her Mili. Her father’s name was Mahendra Bandopadhay.
She passed matriculation examination from Disessor School. She became a graduate from Calcutta University. She made her debut film “Chokher Bali” in the year 1927. She was regular actress of director Madhu Basu’s ‘Calcutta art players’. In this connection she acted in “Alibaba” directed by Madhu Basu as Fatima. She acted in several Bengali movies including “Ratna Deep’, “Shap Mochon”, “Sandipan”, “Pathsala” etc. She also acted in French director Jean Renoir’s “The River”. She was the firs Bengali lady who acted in French film. She also acted in professional stage. She was Vice-President of “Avetetri Sangha”.
