Supriya was born on 8th January 1935 at Burma. Her original name was Krishna and her nick name was Benu. Director Niren Lahiri named her Supriya. Her father was Gopal Bandopadhay and mother was Kiranbala Bandopadhay.
Her education qualification was not up to the mark. She was a self made lady. She made her debut in the film “Nagpash” directed by Niren Lahiri. Actress Chandrabati Debi introduced her to director of “Nagpash”. But the picture was still not released. Her first released film was “Basu Paribar”. She married Bishwanath Choudhury in the year 1954.
