NOT SO ACIDIC - RATHER QUITE HAPPILY ALKALINE!
When I set myself down to listening to the songs of Acid Factory, with a name like that, I prepared myself to be hit by some loud, in your face numbers, but I was pleasantly surprised to find an intelligently put together album.
The album kickstarts with a renewed version of 'Jab Andhera Hota Hai' yes, the old and fabulous number composed by R.D. Burman for the movie Raja - Rani. This version sounds good too, sung in style by Saptak (of talent show fame), Aanchal and Shweta Vijay. The remix of this number by Aanchal and Jojo also sounds good.
The next track in the album, 'Khati - Meethi' is set to a great beat. Composed and sung by Manasi Scott (in cheeky Alisha style) it reminded me of the seductive numbers sung by vamps clad in silken gowns in the black and white films of the yesteryears.
'Kone-Kone' is another one with a great beat. Bappa Lahiri who has composed this track, shows great prowess and claims his inheritance title, that of the 'Disco Crown- prince' quite easily! Sung well in characteristic style by Vasundhara Das. There is a 'Lounge Kilogram Mix' of the same song with a a heavier beat.
'Nothing Else Will Do' composed and sung by Ranjit Barot is a powerful track. 'Raftaar' embodies its title that is 'speed' in its sound, sung by Aanchal and Raaj Gopal Iyer as per the need of the hour.
'Yeh Jism' is a slower one sung well by Aanchal and Raaj Gopal Iyer again. Pleasant enough! This has a Club Mix version as well.
An album which does its task admirably. Pleasantly surprises when one expects little!
