Aghaat is the perfect example of offbeat cinema as people always call it. It is a story of two opposing unions, one led by a capable & honest leader, Madhav Verma (Om Puri) who sincerely cares a lot about the workers of the factory and looks for their benefit. But an opposing union starts forming by enticing the workers with promise of better package & a higher bonus. The work of this union is managed by local goon Krishnan (Gopi) who works for Rustom Patel (Naseeruddin shah). An accident with Chhotelal (Pankaj Kapoor) was the opportunity for the new trade union to spread its wings. But the former union doesn't take this lying down and so it results in serious conflict between the two unions. Seasoned performances by veteran actors like Amrish Puri, Om Puri & Naseruddin makes this film a good watch.
