  EXPECTATIONS - Rumors about remaking Big B's 'Agneepath' were on the loose for at least 3-4 years. Abhishek Bachchan & Shahrukh Khan were the first choices said by media, but at last when the news about remake was becoming familiar, Hrithik Roshan was selected as the great 'Vijay Dinanath Chauhan'. At last when 2011 came, the news was fully confirmed. Near Diwali 2011, the trailer was launched which grabbed too much of attention.   Whenever we hear the word Agneepath, first thing that flashes in the mind is AMITABH BACHCHAN as VIJAY DINANATH CHAUHAN; created by Mukul S Anand in 1990… In an Interview I heard Karan Johar saying that his Father was upset by Box office outcome of that movie, though it was critically acclaimed all over… it was the main reason for recreating Agneepath in a new look…
  
  So, the question arises; will this Agneepath give peace to Yash johar’s soul or will it burn his soul in an Agnee of the remake Path???

  Agneepath - disappointment

  Imagine God Father without Marlon Brando, Sholay without Amzad Khan or Gol Maal sans Utpal Dutt. Some movies become legendary because of iconic characters played by actors who are just perfect for those roles. Agneepath with Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan clearly fell into that category.
  
  It was a story of revenge. Vijay was so consumed by anger that his life had only one objective – revenge – and he was totally incapable of feeling any other normal emotions.

  Insult Path….

  First things first I don’t like to watch remakes, as most of them just try to cash in on the past glory. I believe if a less know film with great concept gets remade is proper definition of remake. Thus out here in case of Agneepath [2012], I decided to watch it as the makers claimed it not to be frame to frame copy of the Original Classic film Agneepath made almost two decades ago.   Everyone is aware that Agneepath is a remake of the classic 1990 film, in which Amitabh Bachchan immortalised the character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. Hrithik Roshan takes over the mantle of the legendary character in this remake, with debutant Karan Malhotra helming the film.

  Another remake not living up to expectations!

  A young boy's quest for revenge, of his father's lynching before his eyes, leads him to become a gangster as an adult. The movie was billed as a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1990 classic. Unfortunately, except for Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala and to some extent Priyanka Chopra as leading lady opposite Hrithik, everyone else in the movie didn't live up to my expectations. Hrithik Roshan lacked the intensity/anger/purpose of Vijay Dinanath Chouhan. Sanjay Dutt looked more like a joker than the dreaded Kancha played by legendary Danny Denzongpa in the original one.
