Ranbir Kapoor is the going to be the greatest actor in India.
This won’t be an understatement after you watch this film. His last film was Wake Up Sid where his played a serious character of an unmotivated youth, which he played with perfection and now in his next film he has played an extremely funny character which matches the standards set by the greatest comic actors of the world. He is outstanding and deserves a lot of awards for this performance. Showing consistent improvement from ‘Saawariya’ to ‘Wake Up Sid’, it's now pretty clear that Ranbir Kapoor will be the new teen sensation. In his latest offering ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, the actor effortlessly outshines everybody else in the frame. He is quite simply the most charismatic actor of his generation. Ranbir Kapoor can do anything. Right from casually slipping on a cleavagey top to indulging in cake-and-egg slapstick, this boy has more panache than any of his generation, and more. Sure, it's just more niceguy schtick, but Kapoor sparkles with an energy that draws the audience inexorably toward him. And while he tries hard to channel his grandfather Raj, he seems more to possess, in bits and pieces at least, the spontaneity and comedic bendiness of another screen genius, the late great Kishore Kumar. When an actor makes you overlook the gaping flaws of a bad script and actually makes the loopholes work – you know he is a star.
Katrina Kaif is good but I feel she looks too healthy in this film. There chemistry is outstanding and I think they should do many more films together in the future. It's clever casting, because she gets to go all starry-eyed and excited and childishly emotional, and thanks to her breathtaking shimmer, makes all of it look rather pleasurable indeed. There is something about her infectious smile and attractive presence that lights up even the dullest of movies. Just watching her go through those several wardrobe changes and listening to her now-charming accented Hindi make you forget all about the torturous November heat.
Upen Patel is irritating. All friends of Ranbir Kapoor are good and act their roles well. Darshan Jariwala has done a commendable job and his expressions are really good. Rest all are fine.
Rating: 3 / 5 (Good for onetime watch)
