Material pusuit hardly spares delicate human emotions. Circumstances compel Bimal to sell his car ""which he treasured as the bosom crony. Finally "Jagaddal"is translated into iron-scraps, the bones and marrow of his "sweet-heart". As the film is about to end, there sounds the blowing of its horn. It is actually a child toying with the rejected horn. The ear of Bimal is so practised with this blatant sound. This scene reminds us the address of Anand "Babumashai"even after his bodily death.

"Ajantrik" is based on a story by Subodh Ghosh. It deals largely with man's emotional attachment that animates an inanimate. . Jagaddal, the car (ironically named) is owned by Bimal, the l driver who unbosoms and unloads his emotions to the car. He fondles it in affection, and kicks it in wrath. The car becomes an inseparable part of Bimal's life, a bond nourished with the saps of submission, akin or superior to spousal or filial tie. But, by the decree of destiny one has to be disposed of.
