Amar Sathi rating: 2 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 30 Sep 2010)

Amar Sathi is one film which tries to promote religious harmony and says that when it is love- caste, creed, religion can never be a factor. The director who doubles up as the producer is also involved with other creative departments such as the story, dialogues etc.One cant call this a complete religious film because it also has it’s share of romance, songs, action and other things. The story has tried to bring people of two religions together and there is of course a touch of the Almighty in different forms in the film. It introduces us to anew pair-debutante Karan and Pamela. The story is like this-

A little girl called Ananya longs for a brother when she sees other girls giving Bhai Phonta (a religious ritual among Hindus) to their brothers. Her parents can’t have a child anymore so her grandmother asks her father to marry again. Her mother who is a follower of Ma Chandi prays to the diety who visits her at night one day and gives her a son. At the same time, a similar happens with Balaram’s (Ananya’s father) closest friend Amjad whose wife longed for a daughter as they already had a son. They are also blessed by a daughter by the Pir Baba.Years pass and Agnee, Balaram’s son and Pari (Amjad’s daughter) get admitted in the same college. They come across each other and Pari does not like Agnee, but once she once she comes to know who he is, she falls in love with him. She is head over heels over him, but he does not like her. When she decided to end her life, he understands how much he loves her and accepts her. One day when Agnee goes to Amjad’ house, he is shocked to see Pari as he did not know her real identity. He decided to end the relationship as he does not want to get involved with a Muslim .Azad , Pari’s brother can’t stand Hindus and comes to know about the relationship. He locks up Pari in a room and goes away. Pari’s mother decides to free her and let her go to Agnee as she believes that all is fair in love and war and there is no caste, creed, religion when it comes to love.Azad comes to about it and goes to Agnee’s house but he cant find them there. Later on Azad and his men arrive there and take Pari away from Agnee.Azad’s friend tries to molest Pari so Azad injures him. Meanwhile the police arrive and they try to locate Agnee and Pari, but can’t do initially though later on they spot the couple trying to commit suicide by jumping from a bridge. They do jump from abridge, but two religious cloths, one sent by Ma Chandi and one by Pir Baba help to save them and are placed under their feet.

The new pair are not too promising especially the guy Karan. He screams a lot and makes sounds during the action scenes. He is also too lean or thin to be a hero. The songs are not too great. The character actors have done their job. The last sequence where the lead pair are saved by two religious cloths sent by certain revered deities of their religion(if one can call a Pir Baba a deity). The best part of the film is it does not bore you too much unlike other similar films.
