Anamika Saha was born in Jessore. Bangladesh on 26th November. Her real name was Usha. When she became a film actress, she changed her name to Anamika. Her father is Ramkrishna Saha, and mother was Nalini Saha.
In 1971 she passed Higher Secondary Exam from Deshbandhu Balika Vidyalaya. While she was studing B.A in Scottish Church College, Kolkata in 1973, she got the chance to act in films, and she could not study further.
Before entering films, she learnt dance. Shambhu Bhattacharya and Ghanashyam Das taught her Kathak and Bharat Natyam. Apart from dancing she was fond of theatre acting. She was associated with “Yugantar Natya Ghosthi” for a very long time. She also acted in Radio Drama.
She made her film debut in the 1973 film “Ashar Alo” directed by Sunil Bandopadhay. The role was small but drew attention. Her major break was Tarun Majumdar’s “Sansar Simante” in 1974. Even today she is considered one of the finest villains ever produced in Bengali Cinema.
She also acted in diffirent television serials. She was married to actor Bodhisatwa Majumdar in 1984. She is a mother of a daughter.
