The film centers around the life of a young woman from Bangladesh who had escaped to India during the Bangladesh War. She was duped by a pimp who promised her marriage and sold her into a redlight area. The prostitute gave shelter to an injured communist party worker, who was being chased by the police. She took care of him until he got well. Later when others of the area objected to his presence, he left the place with her. He brought her to his home. They fell in love. He decided to marry her and give her a social recognition. However, he again ran off to escape the police. She commited suicide believing him to be dead. He returned to find her dead. The film ends with the body of the woman left on a van while the man and others scatter to escape the police. The film tries to commemorate / acknowledge the sacrifices of innumerable lives lost in political agitation in both West Bengal and Bangladesh.
