“All the greatest love stories (sic) are between strangers,” promises this picture’s tagline. In real life, this ‘love between strangers’ business, I suppose, would mean a one-night stand. It makes for the customary premise for any formulaic, frothy film like this. The lead couple starts out hating each other, or as platonic friends, and eventually slips into eternal love. The picture takes about the same time to finish as the popcorn in your tub. Female audiences suitably develop crush on the male star.more

Watching "Anjaani Anjaani" is the equivalent to having your foot run over by a speeding car - it's an unbelievably painful experience. Directed by Siddharth Anand, this film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra as two depressed New Yorkers who meet at a bridge they're both planning to jump off from. Ranbir plays Akash, who's lost millions in the stock market crash and has a fat loan to pay off. Priyanka is Kiara, who recently discovered her fiancé was cheating on hermore

Till a few years ago, if a director approached a producer with a script that had just two characters from Scene A to Z, the producer would scoff at him and show him the door. After all, devoting an entire film on merely two characters is nothing short of a risk. That's not all, for the two characters aren't friends, acquaintances or lovers. They are strangers who meet accidentally on a bridge, since both have decided to commit suicide. If that's how your film beginsmore

They meet as strangers in the night.... The possibilities are immense. Is director Siddharth Anand able to leverage this great opportunity and tell an engaging story about two people who find life and love on the threshold of death? Errr, umm, well, he does, but partially so. Let's get things straight. By and large, we have no complaints with that critical quotient called chemistry. The new pairing of Ranbir and Priyanka manages to create some wild and whacky momentsmore

Here, at last, is a romantic comedy from Bollywood that actually does what romcoms are supposed to do. Anjaana Anjaani tugs at your heartstrings while at the same time tickling your funny bone. While Akash (Kapoor) is actually a typical Wall Street corporate who loses everything he owns to the stock market crash, Kiara (Chopra) is a cheerful San Francisco girl full of life, until her childhood sweetheart cheats on her and she, too, loses everythingmore

I am wary of scripts that introduce themselves as an unlikely romance between so and so. Most Hindi films, specifically love stories, are better off being just what they are instead of brandishing itself as a stupendous dramatic achievement, often as an aftereffect of viewing an absorbing foreign language movie (off late, sitcoms too). Not to say that Anjaana Anjaani is the product of 'So good, I am going to remake it' but merely that this too promotes itselfmore

A film based on relationships with just two central protagonists is a challenging premise and more difficult to tackle. You don't have the liberty of add-on characters, side-tracks or even momentary breaks and fillers. A film of this kind is largely dependant on the screenplay and the chemistry between the lead pair. That's what makes Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani, directed by Siddharth Anand, unique in its own way and rather differentmore

Anjaana Anjaani is about an unlikely romance between two unhappy people who meet when both try to kill themselves by jumping off the same bridge. Through the course of the film, they give suicide a few more tries. You wish they had succeeded the first time itself because then we would have been spared the anguish of watching this vacuous travelogue masquerading as a movie. Director Siddharth Anand trained at the school of Yash Rajmore

After Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Bachna Ae Haseeno, Sidharth Anand’s venture Anjaana Anjaani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra is partly your typical candy-floss romance and partly a film about a man and woman’s journey to self realization during times of strife and duress. What you can expect from this film? Well, some sizzling chemistry between Ranbir and Priyanka, good music and interesting locations.more
