Apradhi is a very mediocre Prasenjit film with nothing special in it.It is the story of Prasanta Mallick who is a wealthy industrailist. His wife gives birth to twins after years of marriage. A distance is created them due to the birth of the twin sons. One day Charan Das Choudhury, an old friend comes to meet Mallick at his office and asks him to help him. Mallick gives him Rs 3 crores as well as his own wristwatch which Charan Das had liked. One night Charan Das comes to Mallick‘s residence and takes away one child . While going, he leaves the watch behind. Mallick comes home and discovers what has happened. His wife Debi accuse him of kidnapping and killing his own child and in the process falls down the stairs and becomes unconscious and loses her memory.Mallick is sent to jail for 14 years. He comes back after all those years and decides to take revenge on Charan Das.He seeks the help of Arjun(actually his elder son whom Charan Das had run away with and who had been brought up by a thief).Mallick gets back at Charan Das by destroying him financially. He seeks Arjun’s help to make his wife better and tells him to pretend to be her son to make his wife better as she had taken to him in a ig way and meanwhile her younger son had also come back from abroad.Nandini(Charan Das’s daughter) falls in love with Arjun and goes against her father.Arjun comes to know That Charan Das knows the real identity of his mother . Charan Das asks him to bring Debi to him and then he would tell Arjun who really his mother was. When he does so, he come to know that Debi is his real mother. Charan Das tries to finish off Debi, Arjun and his younger brother Akash, but is prevented from doing so by Arjun and Akash. An injury to Debi’s head makes her regain her memory and she is reunited with her sons and husband.
There is nothing worth mentioning regarding the performance s or anything else though Priyanka looks good and acts well.Bappi Lahiri makes a comeback of sorts after years as the music director and one must say he has done an okay job. One particular sequence must be mentioned as it is really laughable where Prasenjit ignites the wood at the altar by firing a shot and what do you have ? What else but a fire of course!!!!!!!!!!! One cant think of fans of Prasenjit being too encouraged to see such a film.
