After being deferred for 7days due to censor problem, Apradhi directed by Subhash Sen is released last Friday, though apparently this film should not have censor problem.
In the centre of the story line we find there is owner of Group of Industries Prashanta Mallick (Victor Banerjee). The problem of typical Bengali cinema with this type of industrialist is that they are nor properly etched. They talk about big money in crores but their but their office room décor seems that of a petty grocery shop owner. Their cars, their costumes, their house, their life style is all that of middle class people. So, they never become convincing.
His wife Debi (Laboni Sarkar) became mentally disballanced after their elder child was stolen by Charandas Choudhury (Sanjib Dasgupta). Charan did it only to take revenge on Debi as she in past once slapped him for his misbehavior. Charandas threw the child in a dustbin from where he was picked up by a Muslim and brought up. He is now 20. His name is Arjun (Prosenjit). Since then Debi is in a mental hospital. Debi’s younger son is Akash who comes from London after passing ‘Daktari’ just at the interval.
Arjun is a do-goods. He saves Nandini (Priyanka Tribedi) from the hands of local minister as he was ready to marry her. Nandini didn’t know that the son of the minister was supposed to marry another girl. Nandini find “bhagaban” in Arjun and fell in love with him. Accidentally Nandini was the daughter of Charandas Choudhury.
Though Prashanta Mallick gave 3crore rupees to Charandas to start his business but as he was responsible for his wife’s tragedy, after returning from jail he decided to rake revenge on Charandas. Why Prashanta went to jail? Because Debi thought it was Prashanta who stole their own son as he was forced to stay separate due to birth of their twin sons, though they completely look different after 20years. On charge of killing their own child Prashanta was life sentenced. Prashanta hired the tough Arjun to take revenge on Charandas, but alas Prashanta Mallick did not know that Arjun was his lost son due to whom his wife Debi has become mad.
But nothing is impossible in main stream cinema. Arjun passed all the hurdles and won his lady love with whom he had to dance and sing in Hyderabad RFC twice.
Prosenjit delivered all his emotions in the role of Arjun. Priyanka is like a beautiful prop. Laboni behaved like a theatre artist expressing her insane look. Victor with a big wig is helpless.
Bappi Lahiri scored the music which at times seems little bit like noise. Director Subhash Sen did exactly what he had done till date.
