  • Smart Screenplay & Brilliant Direction!

Armored rating: 7 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 18 Feb 2010)

“Armored” means un-breakable, shatter proof or rock-hard. The screenplay and the direction of this film is just like that, very solid, very tough, smart, intelligent and brilliant.

“Nimrod Antal” who is very well known for his outstanding film “Control”, which was released in 2003 and bagged 8 Awards plus 2 other Nominations including Best Director and Best Film award.

He just directed 6 films in his career starting from 1994 and after “Control” he made another film called as “Vacancy” in 2007, which was again an interesting film but he didn’t come up with the audience’s expectations which he build up in his last film. After that he came up with the film called “Armored”, officially released in US – 2009 and in India 2010.

It’s the story of about some 6 officers, who are working in some Security Company. Now the company got one assignment from some bank to shift some 42 million dollar to somewhere. Now these officers made a plan to steal it. One of the officers from them “Ty Hackett” (Columbus Short) was initially disagreed with them but later due to his financial condition and some personal family problem he agreed but only on one condition that no blood business will be taken off in this business. Soon everything was on plan, they stole the money, decided to keep it in some old mill or something, trying to move the money, but then they found out that one beggar saw them in shifting the money in that old mill factory. They killed him and this was not Ok with Hackett. Half of the money was already been transferred and half of the money was still in the van. Hackett locked himself in that van and was trying to run, but failed. Now the van was fully made for security and once it’s locked, no one can open the door from outside, whether from bullets or bombs, it can only be open from inside. Now from the 42 million dollar, half of was with them and half of it was locked in the van. They decided to open the van door but it was very time consuming, in that period of time our main hero “Ty Hackett” played and moved his steps smartly against those of his five friends cum officers, who have also decided to kill him. Those steps and the final climax are worth watching.

The whole film is just about of 1hr and 30mins. Initial the first 10-5mins the story goes smoothly and then it catches up very fast till the last frame of the shot. Though the story is quite common and quite simple to understand, but the direction and the screenplay was super water tight and armored. Everything was so cut to cut and that too very convincing. Performance was as great as ever, no comments on that as all of them have played their role very efficiently. Music, sound, background score, everything was upto the mark.

    Final Verdicts:
Do watch this film once; worth watching and it’s really entertaining.

    Rating: 3.5 / 5
