Arshad Warsi was born on April 19, 1968. He was orphaned at the age of 14, and had to struggle real hard to make his ends meet in Bombay. Arshad had always had a liking for dancing, and joined a small-time dance group to earn some money. At the age of 21, Arshad won a dancing competition. With that money, Arshad decided to start his own dancing group. Later, He associated with the English theatre Group in Bombay. This made him keener about working in Hindi films.

Arshad Warsi made his debut with ABCL’s Tere Mere Sapne (1996). Co-starring with Chandrachur Singh, Priya Gill and Simran, Arshad Warsi left his own mark. Tere Mere Sapne proved to be a sleeper hit, and Arshad Warsi was touted as the next Govinda in the making.

However, Arshad Warsi had to face 8 flops after his debut film. But year 2003 changed the equations for Arshad Warsi entirely. Firstly, his performance in Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2, was acclaimed by critics. Then came Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., where Arshad Warsi played Circuit, a lovable henchman with compelling ease. Munnabhai MBBS was a runaway hit, and Arshad Warsi got a new lease of life for his career. But Munnabhai MBBS’s success had its own drawbacks for Arshad, as he got stereotyped and was considered mainly for comic roles. Be it Hulchul (2004), Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (2005) or Salaam Namaste (2005), Arshad Warsi was mostly doing comic characters. His only serious role was in Sehar (2005), but it went unnoticed at the box-office despite being critically acclaimed.

Arshad warsi enjoyed decent success again in 2006 when Golmaal did above-average business and Lage Raho Munna Bhai broke many box-office records. His performance in the otherwise stale Kabul Express (2006) was appreciated too. Later, He had another hit with Dhamaal (2007), while with Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007), He proved he can do serious roles very well. His latest film Sunday (2008) was average at the box office. Arshad warsi is busy shooting for Golmaal Returns, Krazzy 4 and has Short Cut in hand.

Arshad Warsi won Filmfare Best Comedian award in 2006 for Lage Raho Munna Bhai. He also won the Zee Cine award for Best Comedian in 2003 for Munna Bhai MBBS.

He is married to Model-VJ-Actress Maria Goretti and they have two children. He has also hosted two popular TV Shows Star Gold Sabse Favourite Kaun and Big Boss for SONY TV, and was also associated with Filmy Stock Exchange.
