Nidhu and his wife Rama were sleeping in their house at Domepava. Suddently they woke up hearing a beautiful music. Rama was thinking about her past. The villagers came with her mother's dead body in the burning ghat. She was sleepy that night. When she woke up she found nobody there. Even then there were traces of flames in their mother's pyre. She thought she had no other way then dying. unless she had to go back to her Gosain uncle who had a wish to make her a Pebadasi maiden dedicated to the service of the temple. She wanted to commit suicide deing in the water of river Ganges. At that moment Nidhu saved her and brought her to his house at Domepara. And ultimately Rama married Nidhu . A son was born to Rama. He was named Pratap. Pratap wanted to study in school, but no school admitted him as he was a lower caste child. A baiji came to a neighbour's house no tabla player could tackle her rhythm. Pratap played the tabla that day and received the pearl necklace from the baiji because of his talent. Amiya Mazumdar, a lord doctor, took Pratap to a ustaad. The ustaad taught him all the tricks. Ustaadji took goons Pratap to calcutta to perform in the Nikhil Banga Mahamilan. Pratap won the first prize playing with Singer Banaja Mazumdar Banaja praised the Technique of Pratap's playing, pratap also praised the tonal quality Banajas voice. After coming back from Ustaadji's house Pratap came to know that Amiya Mazumdar was searching him. he went to Amiya's house and found Baraja there. But what would Pratap do? he is a son of a lower caste family!!!
