Ayesha Jhulka was born on July 28, 1971 in Kashmir. Her father was a Wing Commander in Indian Air Force. When she was 12, her family had to relocate to Delhi due to her father’s frequent transfers. She even played a small part in a film Kaise Kaise Log (1983). She lived in Delhi till she was 18. in 1990, She came to Bombay to try her luck in films.

Her first film as a heroine was Mehul Kumar’s Meet Mere Mann Ka (1991). It failed to do well. She also did Kurbaan (1991) and Hai Meri jaan (1991), but these films too sank without a trace.

Ayesha Jhulka’s turning point was Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). She co-starred with Aamir Khan, and played her childhood buddy in the film. The film was a huge hit, and Ayesha Jhulka’s restrained act was noticed by both critics and audience. Then came Khiladi (1992), directed by Abbas-Mustan. The film was a sleeper hit, and it took Ayesha Jhulka to great heights. She was now one of the most promising newcomers on the scene. However, Ayesha Jhulka didn’t attain such success ever again in her career. She did some big banner films like Waqt Hamara Hai (1993), Rang (1993) nd Dalaal (1994), These films didn’t help her flagging career much. Her only hit was Masoom (1996) but its credit went to the child actor and Renuka Shahane. Slowly, Ayesha moved to playing character roles and did films like Chachi 420 (1998), Kohram (1999) and Shikari (2000). But she was hardly noticed in any of these films.

However, Ayesha Jhulka gave some memorable performances in her supporting roles in Run (2004), Socha Na Tha (2005) and Janani (2006). But due to the films’ failure on box-office, Ayesha Jhulka couldn’t bank on them. She was last seen in J. P. Dutta’s Umrao Jaan (2006) Ayesha Jhulka is doing character roles in a few films. Ayesha Jhulka is married to Sameer Vashi, who is in construction business.
